Dog parks in Sarasota

Sarasota County separates dog parks from dog-friendly parks. Dog parks are fenced off-leash areas for supervised play. Dog-friendly parks, preserves, and trails allow dogs only in designated areas on a hand-held leash no longer than 6 feet. Dogs are not allowed in playgrounds, athletic fields, or other areas not designated for dogs, and owners are responsible for cleanup.

Before you go

For off-leash play, start with Arlington Park, 17th Street Park, Lakeview Park, Bay Street Park, Woodmere Park, or Brohard Paw Park. For a leashed walk, use the county dog-friendly park list and confirm the exact park rules before you go. In warm months, pavement, turf, and beach sand can heat up quickly, so bring water and plan around the cooler parts of the day.
